This Abbess Instruments Vacuum System allows items placed inside to be exposed to specific vacuum levels and rates of change. Simulate different altitude ranges with using a PID controller. A Vacuum Cycle Controller (VCC) is used to automate control functions. The VCC enables system monitoring and control via touch screen buttons and graphic indications of sensor data registered and controlled by a PC with a user-specific Graphical User Interface (GUI). The system can be further customized to realize robust data logging capabilities.

The system consists of these major components:

  • Front-loading vacuum chamber
  • Vacuum pump system
  • Process control encloser (Contains component necessary for controlling the system as well as logic and interfaces for the Vacuum Cycle Controller.)
  • Pressure transducers
  • Control valves
  • Process ports
